SCHOOL NEWS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

Good afternoon,

As we approach two full weeks back in school it really feels like we are back in full swing, particularly now that the new Year 7s are underway with their regular timetable of lessons. The students are responding really well to the new Behaviour for Learning policy, and I must say it has been an absolute joy to speak with so many students this week and hear of their pride in receiving numerous rewards for their hard work in class - you can check on their rewards via Go4Schools, either online or via the app.

Last night, it was great to welcome so many Year 11 families into school for their Information Evening, and I look forward to welcoming the Year 10s for their evening next week. I would like to say thank you to all the parents who attended and for the words of appreciation that followed.

A special mention this week goes to Anna in Year 8 - Mr Alison and I had the honour of presenting her with her Silver Medal for her fantastic performance in the national Junior Mathematical Olympiad. Anna was in a category for Years 7 - 9 students, and was in Year 7 at the time of entry to the competition. This level of achievement is truly amazing and one that neither Mr Alison nor myself have witnessed in our long careers as Maths teachers. Well done to Anna.

Finally, Shanah Tovah to all members of our community celebrating this weekend for Rosh Hashanah (Jewish New Year).

Have a great weekend everyone.

James Crowther, Headteacher
