Message from the Headteacher

Good Afternoon,
I hope everyone managed to have a good half-term break.
The week here started with more guest speakers for our Sixth Formers, with Cody from the NHS and Farrah from YuLife giving a thought-provoking presentation on the varied paths that careers can take. The Sixth Formers are really benefiting from a wide range of experiences this year - it's great to see.
If your child is in Year 7, I do hope they have come home enthused about their workshops with the team from Tesco, which took place on Wednesday and Thursday. We were fortunate enough to be the first school to experience these sessions, which gave our students an insight into the many facets of running a large company. They also included opportunities for them to solve problems, be creative and present their ideas.
On Wednesday night we welcomed prospective Sixth Form students to our open evening. It was wonderful to see so many of our Year 11s in attendance and I hope to see as many of them as possible staying on with us for the next stage in their educational journey.
Have a good weekend.
James Crowther

Eco Club update
Having spent a lunchtime clearing an area of our woodland for the HGS Nature Reserve a few weeks ago, our Eco Club were finally able to get back outside in the sunshine to complete the next stage - planting more than 100 bulbs of native wild garlic and bluebell. We can't wait to see them bloom next spring!

Herts Parent Carer Involvement exists to represent the views of the parents and carers of children and young people with SEND in Hertfordshire. They are an independent parent-led organisation, who work alongside Hertfordshire health, education and social care services, to help focus the decision-makers on improving services and outcomes for children and young people with SEND.
They are launching their first annual survey, to find out more about what families in Hertfordshire are experiencing. They want to know what works and what doesn’t, so that they can make sure they are concentrating on the areas that matter most to families.
The survey is open until 11 November 2022 and the information gained will help prioritise their work and importantly, give them more data to back up what they say to the education, health and social care systems that they engage with.
They don’t just want to hear from families with EHCPs or a formal diagnosis; they want to know how the system works for all families, at all stages in the process.
