This three-day residential course introduces students to three different engineering topics they could study further in higher education. During the course, students will:

• Design and build a hydrogen car

• Learn how to program LEGO® SPIKE™ Prime robots using a block-based application

• Design and build a bridge

Students will stay in student accommodation on site. All catering and accommodation will be provided. In the evenings, students will take part in a range of fun evening activities, including games and quizzes.

This three-day course invites female students to explore the exciting world of engineering and innovation at one of the UK’s leading universities in this field. During the course, students will:

New to this year, students are invited to join us for three days of fun, interactive learning. Our team of STEM Engagement Specialists will be delivering a BRAND-NEW module, exclusive to this course...mechanical engineering!

• Design and build a hydrogen car

• Build and test a mechanical crane

Akhawaat Access Conference for Y12 Muslim women Newnham College’s Akhawaat Society is holding an Access Conference for Muslim women in Y12 on August 12th. Designed for those interested in applying to Cambridge and other Russell Group universities, this event will include a workshop and Q&A run by Muslim students currently studying at Newnham. Participants will also attend an Admissions workshop and tour of Newnham. Lunch will be included, as well as the cost of travel for those eligible for Free School Meals. This event is open to UK students in Y12 (or equivalent) who identify as a Muslim woman. There are 40 places available for this event. In the case of oversubscription, academic and widening participation criteria will be applied to prioritise places. Applicants should complete this form by 08:00am on Wednesday 30th July.

Opportunities across Cambridge University

Y12 Personal Statements & Competitive Applications webinar: Christ's College (online)

This session will focus on supercurricular activities, the personal statement and using these to help make a competitive application.

It will give students an understanding of what each of these are and how these activities and the statement fit into the admissions process, as well as elements of a strong personal statement. Students will also receive advice on where to look for ideas and further research beyond this session. This session would be useful to any student planning to make an application to selective UK universities such as but not only Cambridge. For students applying to university in September 2025 for entry in October 2026 (or 2027 deferred entry). 

Sessions take place regularly between April-August. If this date and time doesn't suit, keep an eye for future dates.

Y10-Y13 Admissions Assessment Webinar: Sidney Sussex College (online) 

We are excited to be re-launching our Webinar Series for this year, beginning in March and taking you all the way through the Oxbridge application cycle.

We are running a series of free webinars for school students who are targeting university and who may be considering making an Oxbridge application. 

The sessions will be delivered by Sidney Sussex Admissions Staff, and will also feature Student Ambassadors and Academic Staff, providing attendees with a deeper understanding of what the Oxbridge application process is like, as well as what it would be like to study at an Oxbridge University. A temporary recording will also be made available after each webinar.

Y12 Poster Competition: St John's College

The St John's College Poster competition invites UK-based prospective applicants to conduct an independent research project which will be assessed by St John's academics. This is an excellent super-curricular opportunity for students looking to make competitive university applications this year.

You need to undertake a research project on an academic topic or question that interests you (from any subject area and which relates to the competition theme) and create an academic research poster about it. The theme of this year's competition is ‘Imitation’. Your submission must relate to this theme and we encourage creative interpretations of the theme.

The deadline for entries is 4pm on Monday 4th August 2025.
