{item_alt_tag}

In this weekly round-up you will find information about a huge range of careers and further/higher education opportunities, including university open days, work experience, careers taster sessions, apprenticeship vacancies and lots more. The Careers section is followed by the Higher Education section.
We hope you find it useful!

Webinars and events taking place during school hours are aimed at Sixth Form students only.

By listing providers or employers HGS is not endorsing them, so we recommend that you do your own research to ensure it's the right thing for you.

Amazing Apprenticeships provides really helpful information on vocational pathways and apprenticeships for Post-16 and Post-18 learners and parents/carers.

They have a really useful parent zone http://amapps.uk/parent-zone  with lots of resources and fact sheets helping parents to understand what can often feel like uncharted territory.

They will be running a series of webinars called naviGATE from September, on topics such as understanding the different levels of apprenticeships, searching and applying for apprenticeships and understanding the recruitment process: https://www.amazingapprenticeships.com/workshops-webinars/

They also produce a parent newsletter that can be subscribed to here http://amapps.uk/newsletter

At HGS we run an Apprenticeship Club for Year 12s during form time. Students who indicated in their careers meetings that they may want to do an apprenticeship after Year 13 have been invited, but all Year 12s are welcome. These sessions will continue weekly during the Autumn term as they go into Year 13, and into the early Spring term - during what is the main application window for degree and higher apprenticeships. If your daughter may be interested in attending please ask them to email clare.townsend@hgs.herts.sch.uk

Get Into Business, Accounting & Finance — a free insight event

Friday 18 September, 5.00–7.00
Online via Zoom

Accounting and finance is one of the widest doors into business — and almost nobody explains what's actually behind it.

We're bringing together PwC, UBS, BDO, CIMA and S&W — with more to be announced — to talk about what the work really involves: audit, advisory, tax, investment banking, wealth management, corporate finance and consulting. Whether you're at school, college or university, this is a direct line to the people who decide who gets in.
