Anne Cassidy visits HGS

Anne Cassidy, esteemed author of crime stories and thrillers for teenagers, visited school on Tuesday, 17 January.

During the visit, organised by Mrs Goose, School Librarian, Ms Cassidy spoke to Year 8 over two, one hourly sessions, explaining why she writes her novels and reading extracts from ‘Looking for JJ’ and ‘Moth Girls’.

Students took the opportunity to ask some insightful questions, including how much input Ms Cassidy has into the title choice and cover designs of her books.  A representative from David’s Bookshop in Letchworth was also present to sell copies of the author’s books (a long queue was formed to get them duly signed!).

It was wonderful to hear the students talk so animatedly about books in general and many have since come to the school library to borrow Ms Cassidy’s novels
