Hitchin Girls' and Hitchin Boys' School students proud winner of The WJEC 2016 Moving Image Awards

Ex-students Charley, along with Will Evans-Pughe, were shortlisted in the TV Extract category.

Both Boys' School students, who produced their films as part of their A level Media Studies coursework at Hitchin Girls' School, were accompanied by their families, and teachers from the two schools, along with other ex-students, at the prestigious event at the British Film Institute in London.

Assistant Headteacher Richard Cave said "The quality of the students' film work was outstanding, and we were delighted that Charley and Will were shortlisted. Having two students in one category is amazing. An enormous amount of work goes in to planning, shooting and editing even a short film. There was a great 'whoop!' in the theatre when the golden envelope was opened and Charley was announced as the winner. We are incredibly proud and wish him success in the future".

Charley's category winning film, 'Deadline', is a short extract featuring a young girl, played by Sophie Jones, who is threatened by a terrifying unseen menace.

Since leaving 6th Form last summer, Charley and Will are pursuing studies and careers in the film industry.
