The Hitchin Educational Foundation provides grants to students in the Hitchin area who are obtaining Secondary, Further or Higher Education. Students must have attended a Hitchin Secondary School or lived in Hitchin or the adjacent villages for at least two years and be under the age of 25 years. Grants are only given to students who are in need of financial assistance and who are following a regular educational course leading to a recognised qualification.
This means that students who attend, or who are about to attend, either Hitchin Girls' School, Hitchin Boys' School or The Priory School, who have lived in the Hitchin area for at least two years, may apply for a grant towards the cost of uniform, sports equipment, books, educational aids and some educational trips etc. Grants are available for students living outside the area provided they have been to a Hitchin Secondary School for two years. Grants made depend on the family income, the number and ages of the children in the family, other grants being received etc. Normally only one application for a uniform grant will be considered each year.
Applications are dealt with in confidence with the details on the application forms only seen by the Chairman and the Clerk. If you would like to be considered for a grant, application forms are available at the Secondary Schools or from the Clerk to the Foundation who is:
