Student Covid testing

As we head into winter and Covid-19 case numbers continue to increase, notably among children and young people, a reminder that students should carry out regular lateral flow testing and log their results.

We ask students to do a lateral flow test twice a week and record their results on this form: https://forms.gle/WrdkNsqNwCmBYPfYA

Please also log the results with the NHS: Report a COVID-19 rapid lateral flow test result - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk) This must be done using the barcode on the test kit according to the instructions provided.

As of 4 November 2021, following updated guidance from Hertfordshire County Council and Public Health, students and staff are expected to wear a face covering in classrooms during lessons as well as around the public areas of the school, unless exempt.

Face coverings will not need to be worn in practical PE lessons either inside or outside, or in Music if there is a practical activity taking place. Music and PE staff will give guidance to classes when they arrive for lessons.

Siblings - Guidance from Hertfordshire County Council

If a school is not in an outbreak situation, there is currently no need for siblings to isolate if another child living in the same household tests positive on a LFT or PCR test, unless they themselves display any symptoms of Covid-19.  However, even if they do not have symptoms the sibling should get a PCR test and may remain at home whilst awaiting the result.

Thank you for your support in controlling the spread of Covid-19 within the HGS community.
