Ambassador Programme

Every Year 12 student (and many Year 13s) undertake a Hitchin Girls’ School Community Ambassador role to support the learning and wellbeing of others. They can do this here at HGS, in our family of primary schools, or in the wider community. This programme equips our students with excellent life skills that will support their UCAS or job applications.

Feedback on the Ambassador programme

"Having worked with the Ambassadors from Hitchin Girls' School for many years, and in different schools, I am always impressed with the quality and enthusiasm of the girls who take part in the scheme. They are always very professional in their approach and recognise the need to be flexible in a primary school setting.

Last year we had some very able mathematicians who worked with a more able group of Year 6s as part of our Gifted and Talented programme, and the feedback from the teachers and pupils was always exceptionally positive. More recently, we worked with some language students who came down to support our International Week. Since then we have received the International School Accreditation, and we are looking forward to working with more language ambassadors over the coming years.

I will always look to engage with the Girls' School and their Ambassador programme as it always adds value to the work we do in school."

Mr S. Mills, Headteacher, Whitehill School

"The Ambassador programme allows us to work with students in smaller groups and provide that little bit of extra attention, which is often not possible for a class teacher in a busy classroom."
